The fourth book in the Mountain Word Science series.
A Christian homeschool Chemistry unit, influenced by the old UK Salter's Chemistry syllabus.
Mountain Word Science is a series of textbooks designed for older teenagers, to support the word of the Mountain Word Academy with homeschooling families, co-operatives, and consortia.
The fourth of our Mountain Word Science series – the third Chemistry title – is Chemistry on the Farm. This outline of agricultural science looks at the use and manufacture of chemicals required in all kinds of agriculture – both arable and livestock.
The author acknowledges the influence of the old English chemistry curriculum, known as Salter’s Chemistry. This use-and-process led course, while designed for a secular audience, seems inherently appropriate for a biblically-based science education series, pitched at the rhetorical (third) level of the Trivium.
The author, Paul F. Taylor, BSc MEd, is the Director of the Mount St Helens Creation Center, in Washington state, USA. He has a long experience in education, having spent nearly 20 years in government schools in the UK teaching science and technology. He is the author of Where Birds Eat Horses and Web Development out of the Box 101 – two previous homeschool courses. Paul is married to Geri. Between them they have five children and four grandchildren.
